About Kristie
“A do-what?”
How a nurse’s offhand suggestion became ten years of serving families.

I have always been drawn to babies. Since I was a little girl I dreamed of being a “baby nurse.” I attended a couple of friends’ births and was awestruck by the wonder of it. Then I had two children of my own and learned both the joy of becoming a mother and the hard work of labor, naturally and by c-section.
In December 2015 my sister-in-law let me be in the delivery room while she labored with my nephew. I helped her in the ways that came naturally to me. Her mother noticed and complimented me, and I told her I’d always wanted to work in labor and delivery. I had even gone to school for nursing, but life led me elsewhere.
The nurse, finishing a routine check, turned and told me to look into becoming a doula. My honest response: “A do-what?” She said, “A doula does exactly what you’ve been doing, without the extensive schooling.”
I went home, researched, prayed with my husband, and enrolled with Childbirth International. My doula work began in August 2016. It has grown with every family since.

The name
Why JAHKAH
JAHKAH is a name born from love, faith and purpose. JAH is my husband’s initials and KAH is mine: our two names joined as one, a reflection of covenant, partnership and shared purpose.
The name carries a meaning beyond our names, too. JAH represents Yahweh, the foundation of our faith. KAH is Aramaic for “here” (Strong’s 3542, found in Daniel 7:28). Together, JAHKAH means:
Yahweh here!
It’s a reminder that wherever God has placed us, whatever season we’re walking through and whatever work He has called us to do, He is present.
JAHKAH is our commitment to follow His leading, use the gifts He has given us, and serve others with faithfulness, compassion and integrity. It is more than a name. It reminds us who we serve and why we do what we do.
The logo
Oaks of righteousness
Our logo is inspired by Isaiah 61:1–4. Our vision is to bring hope, restoration and encouragement to others, helping rebuild and strengthen families and communities through the gifts and opportunities God has placed before us.
The acorn is the seed of potential and the growth of something greater. The oak leaves stand for strength, endurance and the beauty of becoming. The roots are our foundation in Christ, and how much it matters to stay grounded in Him.
The circle is unity: our individual gifts, passions and work brought together under one shared vision. From birth and family support to bookkeeping, business operations and ministry, JAHKAH is our way of serving others with integrity, compassion and love.
Like the oaks in Isaiah 61, we want to be firmly rooted in the Lord, growing in purpose, and making a lasting impact wherever He leads.
“Oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”

Deeply rooted.Purposefully driven.Faithfully serving.
My heart
Every season of womanhood
I’m a certified birth and postpartum doula, and my goal is to become a traditional midwife. But I care about every stage of a woman’s life, from childhood and the beginning of cycles all the way through menopause, which I’m walking through myself and learning from along the way.
I’m a women’s health advocate. I share evidence-based information so women can make informed, confident decisions about their health and their care, and I measure everything I learn by the truth of God’s Word.
